I started the Insanity workout this week. After the fit test and day 1 I really like it. It is really hard but I like the pace. I will let you know how I feel in a few days, right now my calves are screaming mean words to me.
I tried the new Dole Shakers. They are fruit smoothies on the go. We don’t own a blender so I don’t make smoothies at home (plus I doubt I would make them). Thes are made with fruit and yogurt. You just add juice and shake. Great for taking to work. I really like them.
Watched “Catch and Release” on DVD the other day. Really good. I give it 4 stars. It is a drama but not depressing. Just a good movie. Kinda makes you feel good in the end.
Life without Anna is fine. I miss her everyday and look for her everywhere. I have her ashes but I am not ready to bury her yet so she will stay in her box for now.
SD2 only has a week of school left. We head to the beach when she gets out. YEA!!
Monday again

Most of you already know but I need to put it in writing. Anna died a week ago today. She got sick on Friday and went very quickly. The cancer returned and attacked her spinal column. I stayed with her until her last breath. I must have smelled her feet a million times because I never want to forget her smell. She has been creamated and is in a beautiful box. Right now I am not at a point where I want to bury her. So she (now the box) will stay with me.
I watched “The Other Guys” with Will Ferrel while I was home for 2 days. It was okay I give it 3 stars.
New life is back to normal. SD2 is plugging away at school. She only has 3 weeks left. We leave for Gulf Shores MS for a week of the beach when she is done with school. Much needed beach R&R time.
Hubby returned from Cuba safe and sound. Back on the hamster wheel for him.
SD2 mom did not make any effort to see SD2 for mother’s day. She still has not seen her and hates to have to talk to her on the phone. We asked her if she wanted to buy her a mothers day card and she said no. She is a good kid and her mom is missing out but hubby and I love every minute we have with her.

I have been a little sparce lately. Nothing personal really.
Hubby returns tomorrow from an 8 day mission trip to Cuba. I am sure he will have lots to tell.
Before he left we had a HUGE (understatement) about SD1 and PEMIL (SD1 grandmother that she lives with – PEW mom). I met with the counselor on Tuesday to discuss said blow up. I am going to change some of my bad habits when he gets back tomorrow and force him to readapt. I hate the drama with a passion. Really I do.
So hopefully Sunday will start some new freshness and positiveness.
The week while he has been home has been quiet. SD2 and I stayed busy doing normal nothing ness. I have cleared by calandar as I have been so busy it just adds to the stress. I did get a massage last Friday and it was wonderful. I need more of those for the health of myself.
Not much planned this weekend. SD2 has Lasertag with the church on Saturday night. I cooked Sunday and Monday for dinner. The house stayed clean. I mowed the lawn and she washed hubby’s truck of all the bird droppings – not sure why they are so angry at his truck!!
Hopefully I will have lots of positive feedback in the near future.

Been on a movie roll. Here are the updates:
Extremely loud, incredibly close (Tom Hanks and Sandra Bullock). 5 stars. Wonderful story – not sad. Safe for the family.
Charlie St Cloud (Zac Effron). 3 stars. Sappy Story but not bad overall. Safe for family. Zac is nice to look at if nothing else.
Oh baby

This weekend SD2 has her virtual baby for a class at school. Really do they trust us to care for this infant with a tell all micro chip in it all weekend long? And since we are raising SD2 to be a monkey (that is what I call my parenting style) hubby is watching the infant tonight while she is at a sweet 16 party. Saturday night hubby and I will watch it while she gone to a church function and Sunday we will be leaving it in the nursery at church. Why yes we are terrible why do you ask?
In all fairness – this is not a class SD2 signed up for or wanted but one she had to take to get credits due to changing schools. She is a responsible kid and is not interested in raising children at this time. She is more worried about getting a B than boys in school. So as a family we will plow through this assignment. I did explain if this were a real baby we would not watch it and she would not leave the house ever again except to work and she knows I am not playing when it comes to that.
I have to give her credit She moved in with us, quickly adapted to a new home, school and lifestyle. She has made friends, make straight A’s (high A’s at that) and stays busy. She keeps her room and bathroom respectable and will clean when asked. She has no homework and I only hear good things from teachers and parents. She takes driving seriously and knows it is a privilege not a right. She is looking forward to going to the beach with us in June and to church camp in July. She is happy to go where ever when ever. Sometimes like last night we just all sat around the living room. She is a good kid and the transition has been fun.
About time!

Please forgive me for being a blog slacker. It has been whirlwind busy and I just have not blogged.
I have completed 2 5k walks and SD2 has done both with me. She keeps up with me and never breaks a sweat. She seems to enjoy being out and about. The runs finished up March.
SD2 was out of school for Good Friday and I got off work early so we went to get a much needed pedicure. Her mom has been on a psycho warpath lately and we dealt with that Friday night. PEW biggest issue right now is that SD2 is not telling everyone she sees when she is with me that I am her STEP mom. This means waiters and people doing our nails. Whatever you nut job.
Saturday me and SD2 started to plant flowers and one of her friends wanted to hang out and spend the night. So hubby and I drove across town to pick her up for the night. We all went to church on Easter sunday then to lunch. It was a great day.
This week has been the usual busy. SD2 has a birthday party on Friday and a youth church function on Saturday. We have stuff at church all day on Sunday. It will be a bus weekend.
Next friday hubby leaves for Cuba for his mission trip. I have a massage scheduled for that day after I take him to the airport. Then maybe some spring shopping.
Only movie that I have seen is “She is out of my league”. Good not great and I give it 3 stars and very strong language.
I did cook Monday and Tuesday of this week (grilled burgers and fried chicken). On Wednesday and Thursday at lunch I walked 3 miles each day. Trying to keep the exercise going. I did work out on Tuesday.
Anna is still doing great. She eats better now then she did before the surgery. She moves around fine and I don’t see any new tumors. Yea!
Oh joy!

I received my assigned dish for MIL Sunday Easter shing ding. Meh.
I watched a good movie on Pay per view last night. It was “Descendants” with George Clooney. Very good drama – strong language but I give it 4 stars.
Cooked chicken pot pie for dinner last night and made easter haystacks and slice and bake cookies. Quite the kitchen diva huh? While I was on a roll I fried bacon and sausage and made buscuits for breakfast the next day. I love to food plan. Back to the work out routine today as I have a 5k this weekend
Lazy much?

I know I have been slow about posting. Yes, I am still alive.
SD2 survived spring break. The first week of 2 days of dentistry and 1 day of counseling. We then went to Cincinnati for a change of scenery. Got to see my nephew and rest.
Week 2 of spring break for her was veggie out. It seems like I have had something to do every single night after work and that just exhusts me.
On Saturday SD2 and I did a 5k walk. It was fun. Didn’t do much else after that since we had to wake up at 5AM on a Saturday (criminal I say!).
SD2 is back in school and I am still in the rat race. SD1 is not doing too well but is anybody surprised. She is flunking out of the community college and has dropped her 1 credit course. She is still in her 1 non-credit course. Hubby’s work will not pay tuition unless you have a C average and that she does not have. So she is taking 1 class 1 day a week and no job. She is 19 years old and was fired from her 1 job after less than 3 weeks. Her future prospects are not looking real good at this point of time. Oh, she still does not drive to our house even though she has had a drivers license since turning 16 so that is 3.5 years she has been driving and can’t seem to drive to visit her dad or sister. And she does have a car and we have offered to pay gas.
Anna is doing well. Her war wounds are healing up quite nice and her hair is growing back. No of the 2 lumps have returned so that is a good thing. She seems to be eating much more and is active outside – as active as an old doberman will ever be.
Everything else is pretty quiet which is the way I like it.
Day 1 dentistry

SD2 made it through day 1 of the dentistry. Hubby stayed home with her today and it took about 2 hours. I have not heard any updates since the initial “done” so I will keep you posted.
Thursday is day 2 and they finish filling all the cavitites.

I tried a new instant oatmeal but this one was much better. It is Quaker Real Medleys. I had the cherry pistachio oatmeal today. Lots of nuts and cherries. The oatmeal was not mushy like instant. It was a good change of pace.
I watched 2 movies this weekend. J. Edgar directed by Clint Eastwood (I love all his movies) and I give it 4 stars. Very good. I also watched Winter Bone. It was a definate drama about the effects of meth in rural Missouri. I give it 3. Both not for anyone under 16.
Weekend was busy with life. SD2 had a church function Friday night and early Saturday and hubby and I ran errands while she was gone. When she got home on Saturday a nap was had by all. I did get my car detailed inside and out. Best $70 I have spent in a long time.
We are going to Cincinnati this weekend for a spring break get away. We are visiting my nephew on Saturday and just hanging out the rest of the time.
Tuesday SD2 gets the first round of cavities filled.
Anna seems to be improving each day. She is active and demanding.
